Need help
I'm a first time boat owner with my season slowing coming to an end. I would like to learn how to service my Bravo 1. My boat just reached 200hrs and I don't know what needs to be done and at what hour increments. Any help would be highly appreciated.
thanx |
DO you know ,what has been done to it befor you had it?
Or did you put 200 hours on it ? If it was you, i would replace the Belows ,Gimbalbearing and drivelube. If you find more then a fingertip of mettal grindings ,take it to a drive guy and have it gone thru. |
Thanx for the reply,
I only put 50 hours on it. The guy before me had it serviced regularly, that's my issue, what is the time schedule for drives? After "X" many hours do this, next service "x" number hours later. Does Merc have this anywhere? |
Merc service manual. With the hours you have and the unknown history I would do a compression test and leakdown test, put new plugs in while you have them out, check the distributer for corrosion, check the play in distributer gear while you have cap off,if its much change the drive gear, change the cap and rotor while you have it apart, change the water/fuel seperator filter, pull the drive and inspect the coupler splines and alignment, change the gimbal bearing, check the drive oil for metal and change it or tear down drive and inspect it IF metal is present, check the u-joints on the drive for any wear, spray down any wiring connections with sealer while prepping it for storage then fog the motor/winterize it (if thats neccesary where you live),Smitty
