Bravo Help

Im doing a alpha to bravo swap during the winter. Was wondering if i could use my inner transom plate from the alpha ? and if i could use my engine coupler?
thanx

the inner transom plate is the same. use it over. the coupler on an alpha & bravo are different, however interchangable. they will both work, but the bravo coupler is a much heavier duty unit and if you are planning any real horsepower, it would be recommended to change it. also check your old coupler for wear on the splines if you plan on using it again.

Are you talking gen one or two? The gen two is the same because the shield it self is the same for alpa or bravo. If you have enough hp to need a bravo drive and the moter is out I would put the bravo coupler in. It could savie you from having a bad day on the water.

the cutout is the same. I use the same jig for alpha, bravo, cobra, volvo. I've cut a few holes.

Check for the two additional bolt holes in the inner bracket above the tiller arm that were unused on the gen 1 alpha. Somewhere around '89 all alpha inner plates were the same as the Bravo with the extra holes. Merc did things like this to streamline production and warehousing etc. Around this time foward Most GM bellhousings were Bravo and were even instaled on 3 liters. I have lots of 'em too

So will an 88 Alpha inner also work for the conversion or is the 88 different from the 89?
