Bravo Outdrives

Hi Guys,
I am looking to replace my alpha drives with Bravo 1's
I need the transom assembly's and the drives. New is a little out of my budget so I am looking for used. I have a 1987 Baja 280 Force that I have completely redone . I suspect I would need the 1.5 ratio?

If anyone can help Please....

Why? A couple of SEI complete spare drives would be much cheaper (and easier). I'm not sure about any of this but wouldn't the transom need to be cut or re-drilled for the Bravo assemblies and which is not as big a deal as....isn't the X-dimension different for Alpah vs Bravo????

I think all you need to do is drill 2 extra holes in the transom for the bravo transom assembly bolts. The bravo is longer, and will put your props deeper, but shorty lowers are available for bravos.

Yep and also need to cut out the top porsion of the Steering part for the bravo.

Amazing timing. I am looking to do same for my 3250 with additional modest engine hp upgrades from 260 hp to 375 hp.

Does the drive shaft dimension (height) remain the same for both the Alpha and the Bravo for alignment to the engine relative to the transom plate? w/ 2 extra transom holes of course.I realize there is thru hull water & cooling water pump and exhaust to tweek in the process with gear lube oil reservoir and new engine coupling also needed.

Who has alpha and bravo paper templates that could be copied at Kinko's for reembursement?

The transom cut out is the same just minus 2 extra studs on the Bravo. I was told the the "X" would not change??? I was under the impression that the distance from the input shaft to the propshaft was the same?? Is it not??? I am in the process of gathering parts for the same conversion.

Baja 28, what motors are in your boat now. One other thing you have to consider....... The flywheel housings are different on some of the Alpha boats and will not work with the Bravo coupler. Just a little FYI.

For 375 HP i would leave alphas on, its tuff but the Alpha is faster. Less drag on the hull. (if it is gen II)?!
