#2 Speedmaster

any one have experience with these im looking for a more reliable maybe better performing overdrive for my my 25' larson senza it has a 260 alpha on it now but im tired of breaking stuff in it and am always worried when i go out it will break the boat has around a 425 horse small block. I have found a rebuilt speedmaster #2 that's rebuilt that's cheaper than i have found a bravo for. I was wondering if it would work for my boat or if it would be a waste of time and money

I am not an expert but for that application I would say go with a bravo 1 set up. 2s are two old to old to be making mods to make it fit your application..............

Bravo would be a much better choice!! 2s would be slower and your engine package would have to move forward to make room for the transmission.Parts are very hard to come by. Xr would be even better.

Yes, going to a bravo would be easiest. To go to a #2, you'll need to recut the transom hole, add a transmission, move motor mounts, etc. I am pretty sure a bravo is longer than a alpha, which would put your prop deeper. THis may cost a couple mph. Then again, you can always try a shorty lower unit.

99% positive Bravos and Alphas are the same depth. The switch to a bravo will be much earier than just about any other drive.
