Stripped threads - top cap bravo 1

I striped the threads on the top cap of my bravo one - were the drive shower's go. Probobly just finished off someone else's mistake. I really didn't use much force. Anyone got a quick fix?

Heli Coil is a insert that takes place of the stripped threads you drill to the size stated on the kit and tap/install the new threads.(follow instructions in the kit) can be a stronger repair than the original.

Here is a site that shows what it is. You can get a kit a NAPA and other Auto places. Look for a longer thread, the longer they are the better.
You just drill out the hole with the suplied drill and then tap it with the supplied tap (keep everything Perpendicular with the top of the case) and screw in the insert. Pretty simple process and the threads are stronger than stock.

Hope this helps..

When you drill out the threads to insert your helicoils, make sure you use a flat faced drill bit or replace your old bolts with ones about 1/8" shorter because the cap bolts are full length so they may foul on the bottom of the thread hole beacuse you couldn't get the helicoil all the way to the bottom. Just food for thought! You wouldn't want your top cap to not seal!

Good luck mate, make sure you use light loctite on reassembly!

And a torque wrench. Those bolts don't require much.
