Well I do have Marine business in addition to my day job, which is Communications/Electronics. But I only work on Bravo drives for others, keeps me focused.
If I come across one for some reason, I will compare them.. Sorry I can't be of more help. Dick |
Wow, I finally can answer a question for Mr. Gadgets! The inner lip of the older sleeve ( 86814 ) is smaller in diameter than the new one. They reduced it to clear the weaker but larger u-joints. Now that Merc has gone to the smaller (though stronger) u-joints (the Italian ones without zerk fittings) it might not be an issue. I never did measure the length of the u-joint assembly to determine if the old gimbal bearing would work but for the cost just replace it to be safe.
PS I wonder if I have ever met you Mr.Gadgets? PM me if you care to find out |
I have compared the length of the old style and new style and I think it would work with the old gimbal bearing, but I have never tried it, so I dont recommend it. As far as the ring goes.. same deal.. new metric ujoints are smaller, so ??
I will pm.. rhino... :) |
So Dick, was that the wrong number for the kit? I'm trying to set things up with the shop that is going to do the install and want to make sure I'm giving them the right info. They say they have everything I need but I like to be sure with a second opinion.

The gimbal kit for the XR swap is 30-862540A2.
That is the number I have on the boxes of the two I have in stock.. |
Thanks, Dick. That's what I told them, still waiting to see if what they said they had matches.
