drive leaking

My friend has 93 formula 311 1 bravo 1 drive is leaking at the seam where upper and lower bolt toghther. bolts are tight, appears to start dripping from front at point and aft r/h stud looking forward. I looked in my book it doesnt show an o-ring for oil just water that goes in there but talks about an oring on the drivshaft ?? collar could that be leaking and allowing oil to seep out seam? no water in oil, lost a little end of last season but has lost 2inches in resivior over winter just sitting thanks Randy

Randy,
there are three seals between the upper and lower. Two orings, and one 'quad seal".
The quad seal, seals the oil passage from the upper to lower and the oring on the vertical shaft seals that passage way. If there is a nic on the surface where the oring seals it will leak. Or if the oring is damaged. A touch of sealer goes on the quad seal and the water passage, just to hold them in place. The quad seal is coated and really doesnt need any sealer.
I see you are in Holland. I have all three of them in stock.. give me a call if you want. 616-403-1006.. although I left my phone at home today.. So this evening would be better.
Hope this helps.

Dick
