How well do u think it would work?

Hey guys, i have a wellcraft eclipse 232, it came with a beat 350 and alpha drive.

I recently purchased an old sea ray that had a 1997 454 magnum in it. It also came with a 1997 bravo 2...

Im going to be putting the 454 in the eclipse along with the bravo 2 and the bravo transom assembly onto the eclipse.

Now my question is, how do u guys think the boat would run if i just took the bravo 2 from the sea ray and placed it on the eclipse?

What would the difference be if it were a bravo 1?

Would there be a difference in performance and max speed between the bravo 1 and bravo 2?

If so, do you guys have any clue how much?

Thank you guys for any help,
Chuck

I believe bravo 2 drives were made for cruisers so that they could run larger diameter props. Probably would be a lot of work to fit the bravo onto the eclipse, and might not even be worth it. If you have to start patching the transom and redoing the cutout it could become expensive very quickly. I think if you were easy on the alpha and didn't air it out or hammer it out of the hole you could make it live. You also might want to look into the wiring harness to make sure a 454 will match up to a 350 harness.

Im puttin a bravo in the eclipse no matter what haha. im just tryin not to go out and buy a bravo 1. Im trying to figure out the performance aspects of it. I want the max speed haha.

Also i dont believe i have that much modifying the transom, i believe i only have to drill a few extra holes.

And i also do not need the wiring harness, i have a full 454 from the sea ray. Im swapping everything out completely...

wiring might need a little work but could be done. (wiring harness from your eclipse). I believe you are correct about the extra 2 holes (not sure). If I remember correct, the BII were set deeper in the water for big/deep cruisers.....this allowed them to run larger diameter props. It might work, but the prop will likely be running too deep. I would check the X-dimension of both drives to see how they are different. If you must have a BI, you can simply buy a lower only......(check gear ratios though)

What would have to be done to the wiring harness?

Don't know, you have a wiring harness on the boat.....and one on the motor....are they the same?
