TRS Rotation Questions

Silly question, but one worth asking . . .

I know Alpha drives are directional, therefore running twins you must have a counter rotating drive on the port side.

I know Bravo drives are bi-directional, and you can run them either way.

I cannot remember for the life of me if you can run a TRS drive in either direction, being that forward and reverse are dictated in the transmission.

I have one left hand TRS/SSM #2 remaining, and I have a gentleman from Australia who is searching for a RH rotation. Mine is a LH rotation.

Thanks!

Harry

And, sitting here reading my own post, I may have answered my own question . . .

Obviously if the transmission is put into forward, the drive is going to spin whichever way its forward rotation is, in this case, LH. But using a 72C, with a 1:1 ratio, couldn't you reverse rotation at the transmission, making forward into reverse, and vice versa, or am I missing something completely?!?

Please don't beat up on me too bad, I haven't had my morning coffee yet!

NO,,,,TRS have a LH and a RH drive,, u can't change it in the tranny.
The clutch plates will burn if running in reverse !!!!

Forward on a tranny is only forward and the rotation is switched in the drive ( lower) !!!!!!

Hope that helps !

The Bravo is the only one that works in either direction.

Thanks! That's really what I thought, but like I said, I hadn't had my coffee, and it was before 10AM, and . . . oh well you get my drift! :evilb:

Do you know anyone looking for any TRS/SSM #2 stuff?

I have five transmissions on eBay and a LH SSM #2 listed right now, and I have a a pair of transom assemblies on the shelves, and some other stuff.

Here's the link: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/southe..._mdoZQQ_sopZ12

Thanks,

Harry

Upper half of them are the same, the lowers are different.

The easiest way to tell if they are left or right is look at the end of prop shaft. They are marked L or R
