Stripped vent hole threads
 

The threads are shot on the vent hole of my Alpha 1. It is a 1984 and the original outdrive. Is there a repair kit available with a helicoil or something or can it be drilled out and a larger plug installed. Thanks.

The case can be gutted, the hole welded and re-tapped. Had a friend that had to do this a couple of years back.

I think I would try a helicoil first, what do you have to lose??

i have used stainless helicoil kits from napa with great sucess
