water pick up questions, for bravo1

Dropping my new motor in the boat, 24 ft excalibur, putting in a 615 ci bbc, what i really need to know is if it is better to run a high speed water pick up or run it through the out drive, bravo1 , will, not running the water through outdrive make it run warmer or hotter and loose some internal cooling, can i run it through both the out drive and hs water pick up, the boat will have a heat exchanger. ?

You can run both. I have 25 lbs of water pressure using both. The drive and hull mounted pickup are tee'd inside. I run dry tailpipes and drilled additional holes at the tips to releive some water pressure. Engine temp is at 130 degrees running WOT for extended periods of time.

You need to run water through a Bravo to help cool it. Run a separate water dump through the transom and above the drive that dumps the water back on top of the drive. It will keep it clean and cool.
