What is the Best X Dimension for 28 Magic Deckboat
We are about to put the out drive hole in and wanted to get a IDEA of what is the ideal X- Dimension for this boat all responses appreciated.
Im not sure what is needed but im putting in a Raylar 650 Whipple power plant if that helps, or makes a diffrence Thanks :) |
I would start with the propshaft level with the bottom of the sponsons. You can always space down then.My Eliminator runs good there.

Just to let ya know, of all the 28 Magics I have seen, the prop shaft is well below the bottom of the sponsons. I can't tell you by how much. I would try to post this on Performanceboats, in the cat and tunnel section. Lots of owners there.

If you put it deep you may as well also use a aluminium Merc 3 blade prop.Sure if you don't want it to perform put it deep.A cat hull is a cat hull whatever the deck thats on it.Single engine cat's perform best with high drive heights.Start high and go low.

A 28 cat, and a 28 cat/ deck boat run a lot different. The deck does not air out anywhere near as easy as a regular cat. Also, there is a lot more weight farther forward with the deck boat.
BTW, I'm not trying to start a pissin' match, It's just that there a a lot of 28 Magic decks where we boat, and I have never seen one with a real high prop shaft height. Darrell. |
