What is the deferents
between a XR lower and IMCO lower ????
On a standard length ,does it make any deferents to change over ???? |
The IMCO was generally 1+ MPH vs XR lower. Howerever, you can likely turn harder with the Merc lower because of the longer skag. This was accurate 3-5 yrs ago, I assume it still is...

Prop shaft and so fort ?? Its just the housing thats deferent. |
Imco lower has their own shafts, better than the Merc stuff in some situations. When I build an Imco lower I use the XR propshaft, decent piece. The vertical shaft in the XR is not as good as the Imco, strength wise and tolerance wise.
If you run a 50' boat then the Imco propshaft may have the edge, but I have not tested it.. Hope this helps Dick |
a friend of mine has a 38 scarab,,with XR and he bend the propshaft,,,,,,fixed now,,,but he is thinking to swap out with imco lower.
Thats why i ask ,,,,i think he can safe the money if they are similar. |

The parts in the lower of the XR will swap into the Imco lower so long as it is regular length. Short lowers will need the Imco short shaft,, -1, -2.
So how did your buddy bend a 1 1/4" prop shaft.. rotor-tilling at the launch?? Got too close to the concrete? :) |
