Drive Showers not Showering

After many years of having drive showers that came with the boat when I bought I FINALLY crawled back and looked as my wife drove at cruising speed, 3500 rpm at 55 mph, trim was 5 which is slightly past level with the bottom, normal. Guess what, no water coming out of either drive shower!?!
Mr. Gadgets rebuilt my drives this year and recommended I switched them to even out the wear. Also, I had the show pickup tips welded as the following pics show. So, the pickup is now on the outboard side of the drive which is opposite than before this year's rebuild. See the pics. Any comments??? |

The hull has a notched transom and the cavitation plate is about 2" above the back of the transom. The props spin outward.

I don't know if there was any flow before I switch the drives.

I've always questioned the placement and depth of the shower pickups. When I changed my raw water pickups from the bottom of my hull to the rear of the transom I left one of the bottom pickups in place, ran it into a strainer, out to a #10 AN fuel "Y" to 2 thru hull fittings in the transom. From there I ran the lines to the showers. I have more water than I know what to do with. Sorry I don't have any pics but it;s pretty straight forward.

Are you sure they are not stopped up with sand, wood or other debris? Can you disconnect the hose at the top end and blow air through the hose and fitting in the top piece?

Blow then out with a hose or air. Prob clogged up with spider **** or nest or something..

If the hoses flow freely, with air, no blockage, you may have to move the pickup to the opposite side. A quick way to check would be to swap the props from side to side and take it out for a ride, see if that helps. It should be getting water, but the prop may be stealing it. Just a thought. If water flows, then drill the opposite side of the cavitation plate and plug the other hole.. :(

Out on the boat now. At 3500 with the drives tucked in I have flow. Trim the drives to 3 and the flow quits. Thanks for the help keep em coming.
