Installing a TRS?

When I installed the outdrive the first time I pinched the oil seal so I had to replace that and now , Im reinstalling my TRS the first time i did I didnt seem to have much problems but this time it seems to be tricky.. I was also doing it in the dark which also could have something to do with it. But I have 2guys lift and one spin propshaft to try and line up the input shaft. When we do this I try to go in straight as possible to not bind up the ujoint. Any other tips or suggestions.

NO,,,thats sounds right.
But i use a engine hoist and do it myself,,,,its easyer then 2 guys holding it up,,,since they never get it perfectly straight .LOL
I also use a long screw driver to hold the u joint straight ,then use my shoulder to push it in and use my left hand to turn the PS a litle. works every time ,,some times 1 min. some times 10 min .with an agrivation pause .HEHE:eek:

yep! another trick that has worked for me in the past when the screwdriver wotn cooperate is to pull the drive back a little and thread a thin nulon string through the trans shaft/u-joint part....then while turning the prop shaft with one hand/ shouldering the drive and yanking the string upwards it seems to slids right in..and if you pinch the string just slightly pull the drive back enough to yank the string out and whalaa :)

I have also been told you can wrap the u-joint up with a few turns of yellow masking tape to keep it straight...it will tear first time you trim the drive...ive never done it though.

I have used a coat hanger as well. Like was said earlier, could be 1min, could be 10. Sometimes it just didn't want to go.

If it keeps fighting u, try wedging a long screwdriver behing the bellhousing the drive bolts to in order to hold it up a little. could not for the life of me get the drive to slide in. Did the screwdriver trick and slid right in!

Thanks guys I ended up getting it, just took a little but slid right in. before I put it on I noticed the 3/8 oil line from the resivor to the bellhousing was cracked thats how I was getting in water

Thankyou guys for all your help!!
