bravo 1 stuck in forward
went out for a ride this am, everything worked fine boat ran great..when we came back to ramp, pulled back on the lever, felt no drag and stays in forward, checked lever on transom cables working fine and all are new, any idea's ?? could cable end popped off at the drive ? thanks Rob

Rob,
Drain the lube down some and pull the back cap.. you may have lost a bolt in the shift lever, but you will be able to see if the cable is connected to the shift linkage by watching the cam on the shift fork rotate. If it doesnt move, either the cable is no longer attached (pull the drive) or the shift shaft is turning, but the cam is not.. Hope this helps.. Dick |
Dick, thanks, you say pull the cap....top ?? thanks Rob
|
No, the rear where the shift ball and spring are. Three bolts hold the cover on.
|
Under the cover you will see the shift linkage in the bottom opening and the shift fork/cam in the upper opening. There is a bolt in the cam and one in the linkage that holds it to the shift rod..

Does the prop still spin free on direction and lock the other?
|
yes, prop spins one way and locks the other.....had no idea of anything wrong until went to dock....no noise, nothing..

Hey Ezstriper,I had the same thing happen to me last Week. The end of my cable where the lead end is pulled out of the latch mechanism.I pulled the drive and replaced the latch($5.00)and it works great.I had bunch of guys saying my cone was stuck in forward and that stuff but it was just a bad latch.Shifts and works great.Good luck.

Cone is not stuck if the prop spins free one way.

happened to me cable end poped out out the latch, i now always wire the latch closed
