Add'l Maintenance on Stelling Extension Boxes?

Hey guys - just wrapping up my first season with Stelling extension boxes. Is there any additional maintenance I should perform on them? I pulled the access panels on the sides and found a couple grease zerks inside. It looks like another zerk is conveniently located on a u-joint right where it passes through the transom. Any tips would be appreciated... thanks. SM :drink::drink:

I'll be installing a set of the same this winter so this is a need to know for me as well. How did they work for you handling wise and what gains or losses did you get? I'll be going from std Bravo 1's to boxes and Imco -2 shorties. I'm starting with the boxes at the neutral position. Thanks!

One zerk on the flange and one for the carrier bearing, assuming you don't have the sealed bearing.

Then the U joints, if you can get to them. Thats about all there is to it.

Mine is a little different set up inside the transom since I have a driveshaft and a couple more zerks. I ahve been told to grease them every 25 or so hrs.

fbp - I can't really tell you of any gains since I bought the boat with the boxes on it. From similar boats without the boxes, I'd guess I'm 4-5 MPH faster. I'm running standard Bravo's, but would like to get into XR's at some point. Good luck with your upgrade.

Griff - thanks for the info... like usual, I should have just came straight to you. I forgot your AT has boxes, too. It takes a contortionist, but I think I can get to all the zerks.

what drive shaft? does that mean you don't have the carrier? Can you explain? I am getting ready to go over my settup so I am compiling info.
Do you have a "drive saver", if so on the motor or in the box?

I have the standard Stellings set up except my engines are moved forward about 12-16 inches and use short driveshafts similar to what would be used on a staggered engine. I do not believe there is any drive saver, and definately nothing inside the box.
