velvet drive leaking
im running a twin trs/velvet setup and have been spraying trans fluid from the vent on one side. i have removed and flushed coolers and all hoses, and trans isn't overfilled. has anyone seen or know what caues this?
|
It's a flaw in the original design. Back in the day there was a Mercury/Velvet Drive kit to dump the fluid back into the dipstick tube. I think we have a few of them left.
We correct that when we do our upgrades, but if everything is working fiine the kit would take care of it - and you don't have to pull the engine :) If I can find them will sell for $50 each. |
Mine do the same thing. Marc do you have a picture of what your kits look like?

It's an internal problem that can be fixed. But it requires disassembly of trans. I've fixed several of those problems in my years. And had no come backs. An easy fix.

2 Attachment(s)
I have 3 of these, 2 have the hoses & clamps as shown, 1 is the dipstick/fittings only. They are ugly but will do the job.
If anyone wants to order I added them to our site, use PN VD1983. The site might add a handling charge to the shipping, just put a note on the order re: OSO and we will remove the handling. First 2 will get the hose and clamps. When installing please verify the full mark on the dipstick is accurate once you are done. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/partsByNumber.asp The instructions are in the attached PDF. |
Actually now that I think about it, $50 IS WAY TOO MUCH, how about $20.

Marc I just put in an order for two of them. THANKS!!!! If you could send me the units with the hoses and clamps that would be great.
