TRS Exhaust Bellows - need?

I'm running two TRS' with the blockout plates on the inner transom plates for the thru-prop exhaust.

If I am going to have the gimbal apart to replace a lower bearing and some crusty u-joint boots, do I need to replace the rubber exhaust tube at all? It wouldn't seem like a necessary connection to keep intact.

Thanks, Randy

No,just leave it off completely.

What transmissions are you running? Borg-Warner or Merc Trans ll's.

Excellent, one less thing to do and saves me some coin.
B-W 71C's. Haven't run them yet.

Thanks, Randy

I just asked about the trannys because on the Merc Trans there is a grease fitting on the tail stock bearing that you can only grease with the drive off. B-W's have sealed bearings in the tail stocks. You may want to reach in there and check them while the drives are off. They can be changed from the out side if needed without removing the engine. Also be sure to grease your u-joints and put some grease on the drive shaft splines before putting your drives back on.
