-2 IMCO lower. Are there pro + cons of running the plate?

Back4More 02-03-2010 02:34 PM

I thought you needed them if you go with a -2 lower....

a little more ventilation when planing off other than that i cant tell the difference ( lost one on a poker run and didn't know it until we pulled the boat out the next day) it was one that i had made that used the bolt hole that holds the trim tab on.

Some boats won't plane without it.

Tried without them and put burn marks on the props.

So that little extra fin in the back over the prop makes all that difference? I'm changing over this winter from Bravos to Imco SC's. Should I get a pair of these plates to put on? Yes they are -2 shorties.

The cavitation plates usually come with the lower unit.. And the only good way to know if they help is to run with and without. Burning on the props is an indication of air. Getting on plane is the major reason for them.
I dont think they will slow you down, so I would run them, just my .02.
