TRS case repair...

Got a couple of TRS drives in the other day that had the traditional cracking along the bottom of the housing at the skeg. See the before and after pics. Retainer nut threads re-aligned and we're ready to go again after some new bearings and re-shimming.

What is the cracked caused by? I think i have a similar issue.

corrosion, i have a cracked empty case if anyone needs it. precision outboard in clearwater used to repair them also.
