Red dot Gimbal Bearing
I just installed a brand new transom assembly (not HP) and it came with the red dot bearing needed for the larger u-joints in an XR. However, I am NOT running an XR, only a standard Bravo 1 with the standard (smaller) size u-joints. Does anyone know if I can still run this bearing. The only difference I could tell from reading/inspecting was that the red dot bearing was machined down to make for room for the larger u-joints. Thanks

They dont make the old style anymore in fact new bearing cant even be greased. You are good to go with what you have.

Digging around I found this post. I am in a similar situation, I have been running an XZ for years but it is in process of taking a dump. I want to go back to my old Bravo as a temporary spare but curious if I need to swap out gimbal bearing. Anyone confirm one way or the other?

Thanks guys, going out to garage and digging up the old Bravo to swap it over. Wonder how long a 1200 hours of service 1989 B1 will live behind an HP500? Hopefully long enough to rebuild my XZ! I think if I take it real easy and don't let it see much throttle it will be just fine.
