Not yet anyway, he is working on it. He has redesigned the upper shaft and bearing which is what causes the gears to go in the first place.

I would agree the biggest issue is the weak shaft. At some point, I would really like to add Whipples to my 525's. Do you guys really think his modded parts will hold up to 750 hp in a 37' boat? As of now, I'm planning on upgrading my uppers to SCXs when the time comes.

Issue with any upgraded XR is the soft gears. No matter what you start to pit them in 150-200 hours even behind 525’s.

I know, that is why I'm really thinking about rebuilding my XR's with X gears.

Ive got XR's behind 525's with Whipples in a 353 Fastech. Blew one 1 year in on Lake Erie during the Buffalo Poker Run. Had them rebuilt by Performance Marine/Saris Racing 5 years ago and they're still together. Probably 100+ hours on them. I'm convinced they rebuilt them better than factory. Not because the parts are better, but because the tolerances are closer.

You will eventually blow one. However, how you run them means allot. No holeshots, roll on the power and keep the drives in the water and they can last. Change the gear oi
l regularly, look for filings in the oil and repair as needed. Still cheaper and faster than Imco's..

You need to talk to George at AADS, he will build a drive that can handle 750hp and give you a warranty. I am looking at a bigger boat with at least 800hp and he told me no problem. I'm running about 700hp now through one of his drives and no problems. I check my magnets several times a season and after initial break in they are clean.

A Bravo drive behind 750 hp with a warranty? Wow. Any idea on cost? How long is the warranty?

I believe it’s $10k a drive. For that money, I’d be upgrading my uppers to SCXs. What ever George is doing, it is improving the stock Bravo. However, in the end, it’s still a Bravo!

Thank about it, an ssm 5 was only rated for 850 hp. That drive makes a Bravo look like a toy!
