htm cat prop dilemma

i have a 97 htm 24 cat. 454mag with procharger, bravo 1 outdrive. prop on it wont let it get on plane and just blows out. i need some advice on whether or not to get a 4 or 5 blade prop and what pitch would be best.....any help would be appreciated.
thanks

What is the hp of the motor and what gear ratio is the drive. You need to run a 4 blade, if your ratio is 1.50 then a 28 or a 30 pitch. If ratio is 1.36 the a 26 pitch.

just bought the boat from auction....dont know the exact hp but a 454 mag has 385hp, so add the procharger and it should be around 500-550. dont know the gear ratio etiher but its a bravo 1, i assume its a 1.36

I would assume its a 1.5 gear. 28P probably. Call Brett at BBlades, he can tell you exactly what you need, and pretty much tell u how fast your boat will be!!! HE'S GREAT.

Pro charger adds 165HP to a stock 385HP mag? +2 on the 1.50 Bravo and should check the X height. He might need to get some more prop in the water if it's always blowing out? Some days I really have to feather the sticks to get the props to bite.

one more questiion.....what prop diameter should i run?

firehawkcat 06-13-2010 06:43 PM

Im running approx. 600hp on a 26' cat I found a bravo 1 4 blade 28p worked best for all around performance got on plane a lot better Dont go full throttle out of the hole you will blowout everytime(and blow your drive) I have to feather the throttle a little to get on plane you just have to get used to it

Stock bravo 1 4 blade 30 0r labed 32 works for my sr24. Never had an issue getting on plane.

See if you can get your hands on a couple of bravo 1 test props if you by the wrong prop it could be a 500 to 600 dollar mistake I tried a 30p worked well by i didnt want that high rpm on motor
