Theoretically, yes..but it would be redundant and eat extra horsepower. you need to either plug the transom or redo the enitre thing. then either move the motors back or have driveshafts made. If your within the power limits of a bravo, you would a little gain. If your tearing up TRS's left and right, your going to be having bravos for lunch.

omc conversion plates
met a guy named rob whitfield? "i think" out at summers marine on lake st clair. he had omc 2 bravo conversion plates on his boat and installed bravos in place of his trs's. he said it was a very easy rerig and picked up 10mph. only bad part was the conversion plates cost over a grand each. would be easy to water jet something up and make your own i would think. good luck!

Merc used to make a plate for the swap. It was a kit actually as I recall that had a drive shaft set up as well. I remember seeing one on OSO a LONG time ago.
Transmissions are used in lots of boats and they work well. All the # drive boats have transmissions, so keep that in mind. Don't forget that when you move your engines back you will also need to relocate all the mounting, wiring......... Exhaust will need to be modified. The list is/can be quite long. TRS drives are VERY strong and can be purchased cheap enough. Parts as has been said are easy to find if you know were to look. IMO you could buy 4 TRS drives for the price of this conversion and then you will never have down time. |
