OMC King Cobra with 460

A quick question, might seem a bit moronic, but, nobody seems to be able to answer this for me - even seasoned mariners...
I just purchased a 1988 larson senza 220 at an auction, it has an OMC king cobra with 460, I can't figure out how to lock it into neural, i.e. rev'r up out of gear... there must be a way, but I (or anybody else who has looked at it) can figure this out. Ideas? I've been a merc user all my life... no simple button to push here....

Thanks for your help

Grab the base of the throttle at it's pivot point, and see if it will pull out towards you.

Tried it with no luck, but it could certainly be jammed internally. Is that the typical method for OMC?

Last time I drove King Cobras they had separate shift and throttle levers. What brand control are you working with?

That I am not certain. However, I know some attain neutral in that way. The lack of a button made me think that you had that style.

I may be going to my local marina later today, if so I will certainly ask.

Are these outdrives good? I found a '88 Taylor 923 that has this setup. Can they handle much power?

I think they were a good drive, however I'm not sure what the parts situation is now.
