I already have the bearing in there, so should I just take it out again then? right now it seems like it's locked in so in order to align it I would have to take it out again correct? ( just wanted to let everyone know I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me)

I was on ebay and saw a guy was selling this tool
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=26455 is that what I would need to align the gimbal bearing to the engine? |
Can't access Ebay here at work, but the one you want is from Whoya (member on this forum). He sells on ebay, or PM him. I have used his with great results, and it is a quality piece of work at a good price.

You don't need to take it out, it just needs a little manipulation. It's not locked in place, it just takes a little effort to move it. You really should get an alignment tool to do this ( but in a pinch, I've used a piece of 1 3/8" o.d. pipe to manipulate the bearing position) |
Whenver you guys get a chance if you could look at that ebay link and let me know if that's what I need to align the gimbal bearing with the engine that would be great. I'm tempted to buy it and i belive it's what I need but I just want to be sure. Thanks and hopefully someone can let me know

Yes, that tool is what you need and is sold by whoya, a member here on the boards.
Good dude, and good to deal with. I've bought the same tool from him. |
To do the engine alinement the engine may need to be raised or lowered. I just did mine this spring after I rebuilt the transom and raised my engine.
