How much do you want to spend? A Konrad will take a transmission & new transom assembly. An XR would be the least expensive, however they break pretty often in applications over 550 hp.
For a "bolt on" drive the XR is going to br the least expensive route. IMCO has a new SCX drive that is really holding up to some big numbers & it doesn't take a transmission.
Their SC drive is what I run & I only have broke the same one 3 times in 3 seasons. The SC uses Mercruiser gears so you're not ganing an advantage there.
If I were in your position I would look for an IMCO SC drive, then a XR. The IMCO has an advantage over the XR because of the case reinforcing.

I heard that the SCX drive is very noisey and getting it proped correct is not easy.

I still like the BMAX.

Bmax is out bus or close and up fro sale from what I hear.

Never seen Konrad boat out here in LA or Havasu (Im sure there are I just havent seen them)

The imco SC and teague platinum are almost identical and a notch above the stock XR and can hold 600 beans pretty easy.

The Imco SCX is the beefy one. It uses non stock gears- just ordered one last week. Haven heard anything about noise and I know several that own them, I hear it costs power to run more so than a bravo but not objectionable below 900HP. X-dimension doesnt change.

why did it break in the first place? Too hard out of the hole? throttling in rough water? they don't just "break" most of the time

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

Having owned and abused and broken Bravos, XR's and even Black Hawks, I can truely say my SCX upper / SC lower combo is the smoothest, quietest drive I have ever had.

As for propping? What does the drive have to do with propping?

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Bill, are you drunk?

Bravos break just for chits and giggles.

Gear teeth spit off, towers break, caps crack, and on and on.
