stuck in reverse
Well everyone if someone could please help now this is my fault i just bought a 88 baja and was not use to the double shifters well i hit the throttle a little and thinking it was the throttle i pulled it into reverse gues what stuck in reverse how to fix. just to let everyone know all the internals have been beefed up as i am running a 550 stroker with 600hp

If it was real hot and u had been running awhile could have messed up a nose cone.... What drives are we dealing with here?
|
You put the boat in reverse at a higher RPM? (like 1,500 or more).....if so, you probably jammed up the internals in the upper and it will need to come apart to see what needs to be replaced.

Cowboy,
you probably locked the cone clutch into the rev gear. The gear stack needs to come out and press the cone out of the gear, then see if it damaged enough to replace it. The gear may need to be replaced, which, depending on the type, may have to replace the set.. Where are you located? Dick |
holland mi i know it was not hot my guess it is the cone clutch or the fork like I said before the whole outdrive has been beefed up to handle to power and torque but maybe not what i did lol
it does sound normal in reverse and throttles up going to take off in a week or to when i winterize it and it starts in reverse i hope it's not to major because i just bought it and used most of my money to get it |
also it is a bravo 1 outdrive any body know of a top half for sale lol just in case

What might be the "BEEFED UP" mods you are refering to for a regular B1? Considering the crappy Merc gears for all their B1 applications their not that hard to kill. 600hp is pushing it especially if it's a true 600. You can pick up a decent B1 for a few grand 3-5$ but I would start saving for something aftermarket or buy a few sets of spare gears and keep a spare drive close buy which alot of high HP B1 owners do. I know thats not encouraging but honesty is what you get here, it's a good thing really. Welcome to the board and good luck.
