bravo 1 questions

Should bravo 1 drives be removed yearly for general maintanance? If so, what service should be performed? Also, if running twins i was advised to swap drive positions annually creating opposite rotation so rotating parts wear evenly. Sounds logical but is this true? Will the life of the drive be extended that much? Advice, opinions, much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I try to pull mine off annually and just have a look around. Make sure there isn't any water or drive lube leaking into the Drive Shaft Bellows, have a feel of the gimble bearing to make sure it is still butter smooth.

The Shift and Drive shaft bellows are maintenance items and should be replaced. I believe Mercruiser calls for 5-7 years on these items so have a look over them for cracks developing, etc......

There are two schools of through on the drive swap routine:

I do NOT switch mine - I feel like once they are worn in a certain way that switching them only provides the possibility of wearing metal shavings off from the other rotation. I have had pretty good success with this method, but I drive like a *****.....

have been told that before as well...the reason is "even wear"?? The funny thing is you don't want any wear in your drive, and certainly would not want higher tolerances because you wore both sides evenly?

engine alignment

When you have the drive off do you do the engine alignment check? Ever done this? how much trouble is it? how tight the engine mount bolts? bayonet fitting for drive oil supply any issues with this? What sort of wear issue is there with the coupling? Thanks
