B1 water pickup ??

I tried looking back a few pages but didnt see anything about this, so I'll ask.

Is there anyway bypass the water pickup/impeller on the lower unit and just put a hull mounted water pickup like the bigger engines have?

Obviously i'd have to drill a hole and use a water pickup fitting, but other then that, are there any special pumps or equipment needed?

Bravo's dont have an impeller in the lower unit,
they have an engine mounted sea pump.

Alpha's have an impeller in the lower unit though.

You can add a hull pickup for a bravo application.

You'll still want to let the water circulate through the
drive though, for drive cooling purposes.
