TRS Drive Bellows
I'm thinking about buying a boat with a TRS drive and 72C tranny in it.
If water begins to leak in through the universal bellows, will that water leak into the boat and onto the inner transom shield? Is there an additional seal on the transom assembly that keeps the water out? I have the same concern if the boat strikes an object and knocks the drive off the gimbals. Would water begin pouring into the boat as it does on the Alpha drive? |
There's a large O-ring where the tailstock fits into the transom assembly and a seal which rides on the coupler so it shouldn't leak in if the bellows leaks, at least not real fast.
Parts 10 and 14. http://www.perfprotech.com/store/ass....aspx#assembly If you knock the drive off it may or it may not depending on exactly where it breaks. |
Replacing my bellows is on my to do list before summer. i am pretty sure mine are leaking. water wasnt flowing in, but the bilge pump was dumping out a decent amount of water every hr or so.
Recommendations on where to puchase them? Any other preventive maintenance items i should buy while the drive is off? |
