It has been done before but you can also put the overflow bottles under the motor cowl. Here are some pics. Same reservoir as my 500EFI in my Cougar. I would guess any I/O Mercruiser. This worked, the guy has three 300x's on a pretty big boat that surfaces on some really rough water and was drawing water in the lower on cooldown. Yea he is known to put metal to wood quite a bit or be parked at a watering hole.
