I have been told that they will accept up to an 18 inch diameter #6 prop

C_Spray 04-30-2011 09:32 PM

The gearcase diameter looks really big...

Does it draw water or do you need pickups?

Are these uppers available yet ?

wow, it certainly looks pretty cool.:drink:

Should be a great drive for super high x dimensions. Not sure how it would work with a single vee, but I guess with the right setup, anything is possible.

I dont doubt its strength though.

One question, since this appears to basically be a surface drive, how large of a prop will it accept?

In addition to that, does the drive have a twin-pinion/downshaft to handle the higher side loading of a surface prop?

Reminds me of the NXT.

I've had my issues with IMCO in years past but it looks like they put together a nice package.

Dave at Imco said not available yet , still in the works, on paper?

Looks Awesome! I almost decided to go with the arneson conversion but now I have to wait.

Hopefully you all agree...? To get me, and others, to buy the "IMCO SCX SURFACE DRIVE" the price needs to be very close to the orginal scx. Not like the scx is pocket change for most bravo users! but....

Priced around $13800 for a upper and lower.

Priced under $20,000 If it comes with a complete transom assemblie, steering, extension box, trim, etc.

If there is much difference IMO the arneson is still a stronger, better, overall package. For a guy like me who could sell thier hydraulic steering, stand off boxes, transom assemblies etc. The arneson price is not that bad. Plus it WILL outlast all those moving parts in the scx, Gain speed, etc.

We also have to remember another reason why the price is very important because you will need to add on a extra $10,000++++ for props and to dial in the surface drive.

I also find it funny how so many people are "scared" to buy the arneson drive. IMO its because they can not afford it. I can't either, but I am saving. Most say something like, "If RIK could show me a boat like mine he has done". Well I look at it as ALL newer more powerful boats have surface drives. The #6, NXT, M8, INDY, bpm, arneson, Everyone who has more money then us "bravo" guys run a surface drive. They obviously are more efficient, faster, etc.

So if IMCO makes this happen at a fair price I doubt people will be saying, "well I might just go with the regular SCX becasue the SURFACE SCX is not proven on my hull yet"!

Very excited stuff!
