bearings in a bravo lower

Guys,

Did a search and not coming up w/ anything. Looking for a cross reference on Merc bearing part numbers for a bravo lower.

Thanks

The vert shaft bearing is a merc thing or you can get a imco style that is slightly different, the rest are common bearings/races you can find at the auto parts store, usually in stock. Just tear down your old drive and take the bearings/races with you and I think the numbers are right on them. I am at work, but I will look in my briefcase and see if I have my notes with me, Smitty

I just dug thru my briefcase and found my bearing list for bravo lower(I am still ay work and am bored). The pinion brg (big bearing) is a M802048, this is the same bearing a 1982 thru 2000 chevy 1/2 ton 8.5" 10 bolt rear end uses for a pinion brg, same goes for the bearing race althoughI don't have the race part # at hand. Lm 67048 (brg) and Lm 67010 (race) go together, M86610 (race) and M86649 (brg) go together and if your NOT running a imco xr style prop carrier the prop uses a Lm-48548 bearing, only remove the race if it is damaged/ wore badly, Idodn't have the part#,Smitty

Any tips on how to get the vert shaft nut off and hold the shaft at same time? I know Merc has a "special tool" for that, too.., Guess I could temporarily reinstall drive and have boat in gear to hold it.

The tool isn't too bad in price, but don't see why you couldn't clamp the shaft in a vise with soft jaws.

I took a stock used coupler (that connects the vert shaft to upper shaft) and welded a 1/2 drive socket to it, works great and I wasn't going to run that coupler again anyways (using the max worx replacement one), Smitty
