HELP Bravo1 Problems! Anybody got a Loaner?
 

Ok this will be my second boat and my first with something hanging in the water. I am selling my Sugar Sand Jet, and am gonna buy a 90 Regal Velocity 23 454mag/b1 latham steering.

The problem comes with the price. I'm getting the boat from a longtime customer for $4500, the outdrive is Kaput! supposedly as best I can understand at the begining of last season he was starting it for the first time, and somehow it started either in gear, or in-between gears or something. but the upper straight blew up.

I want to keep this boat for a longtime, but for right now I just want to get it running for the season. I plan on having All American Drive Service do a stage two or three this winter, but for now I just need it working! I have the tools, the manual, and a friend that has done lots of work to his own outdrives, so I just need the parts. Is there anyone with Bravo Spares or anyplace I can go? Somebody got an old loaner drive:rolleyes:? Ive rebuilt my Drag Racing 5spd a couple of times, so with guidance I think that I should be good. But what can I do for parts? I just can't stand the idea of $1600 now, only to blow it up or have to redo it once I put about 500hp to it.

Buy a reman XR upper for about $3,500 and it will bolt up the the lower you have AND hold 500hp easily later. (quite honestly, a regular bravo upper will hold 500hp in that relatively light boat easily) and cost 1/3 what the XR will).

If you have set up rear ends in cars (properly, not just guessing) using pinion depth tools, rolling preload and that sort thing then doing a bravo should be in your realm but even if you do it yourself it still gets expensive. I would buy a 2001 and newer std bravo one used cheap, they have the thicker floored gears and should hold up behind 500 hp for a long time, Smitty

I have a new swept back Bravo 1X with less than 30 hours that I would sell for $2500...will handle 500 hp no problem. PM me if interested.
