The upper plug has a mag also, do you have a drive shower on, its not a bad investment if not. Simerek makes one that bolts on no drilling anything

Ok guy's I drained the gear lube from my outdrive and found no sign of any water.... the gear lube looked just as blue as the new stuff. The magnet on the lower drain plug had the smallest amount of fuzz on it (no chunks). After doing some more research I came across another forum with the similar problem. That person was told to check inside the cap for an O ring and to make sure it was in there. I decided to look under my cap only to find a missing O ring hmmmm. I went down to the local parts store and ordered myself a new cap and O ring just so I cross that off the list. I refilled the outdrive with new fluid and put some fluid in the reservoir and now I am counting the days till the weekend so I can try it out.
Still not sure whats causing the gear lube to become frothy? |
It's probably just airated. For the most part the bravo res. is designed to let air in but not out. If you were missing the o-ring you're probably good to go! Fingers crossed.

don't want to scare you but sometimes when the drive oil rises substantially it's because the oil is overheating because something is going bad in the drive.
Hopefully the bottle is just overfilled. |
