is it bad aside from being upside down? sorry about that..

or is it acceptable range of motion?

wheres the slop coming from? is it on the inside from the steering atachments? Hard to tell from an upside down video! ;) :D

If you have that much play while someone is holding the steering wheel, I would be concerned.

Start the motor with power steering & then check it
REtorQue gimbal ring pinch bolts.

Been there, done that.

Bad swivel shaft/ steering arm.

They make "Access plug kits" so you don't have to remove the transom assembly/transmission to replace.

Mine was three times that for movement side to side. Turns out it was all the steering cable connections and fittings to the steering arms of the outdrives. The outdrive steering arms were rigidly attached to the drive and the gimbal pins and pivots were all tight. The play in the cable included the linkage at the steering wheel. My fix was to drop the cable steering and convert to complete hydraulic system. Now everything is tight!
