Trim problem!
 

Baja 272, single 454 Mag, Bravo 3.

Was out on the weekend, and thought that my trim gauge wasn't working at one point, but now I'm pretty sure the trim itself was sporadic. Milky fluid in the reservoir too, so my trim cylinders could be leaking.....

On the trailer now in my driveway, the trim pump will run to extend the drive all the way up, but when I hit either the trim on the throttle or the trailer switches, all I hear is a click (relay I'm assuming), and no pump noise. The click tells me the wiring is good, and the relay is likely ok as well.

Anybody have experience with this, maybe the motor needs rebuilding or replacing, or other thoughts? Thanks! Gotta fix this or I won't be going anywhere!

You need both your trim pump and trim rams serviced. You have water in your trim cylinders.

Almost positive the water is in the pump also. and it has effected the operation of the pump, not nesacary the moter. The reason you have water in probably the ram seals.

Ran through the Merc service manual troubleshooting tonight (solenoid bypass, solenoid jump etc.) and the down/in solenoid appears to be bad. It just clicks when you hardwire it, the same as when I actuated the switch. So I'll pick one up and change it.

Before you do that, remove the green wire and put a hot wire to it and see if the pump works. Do same with the blue wire. That will tell you if the pump is O'kay. If it works, than you know it's the solenoid. But you will still have to get the water out and find where it's coming from or you are going to have other problems very soon.
