jr marine gimbal kit

is the plate that covers the hole in this kit machined for an o ring seal or is it just a flat plate ? thanks

Step 14 says there is a gasket.

It is a flat plate that uses a gasket

It is a flat piece of polished stainless with a rubber gasket the is the same size as the plate. Just did it to my Dad's boat.

I've done it too, its a great kit and much easier way than the merc plugs!
I also put sealant around the bolt holes and engraved the Baja logo into mine before installing it. It looked pretty damn trick!

Go with JR's hit stay away from Merc's plugs

JR's kit that is

ok thanks. bought one. i still think it looks a little hackish but its better than pulling the motor and transom plate off. i cut mine today and i would not have been able to get to the top nut even with the motor out. i still would have had to pull the plate off

That cover plate kinda make me question it's reliabilty to seal.

Rather have a leaky seal than a leaky cover plate. A buddies boat has 2 leaking seal. I'm talking him into either pulling the motors or use the Merc kit. Too much of a risk for a boat that lives in the water.
