Lower shift cable removal

I have read throughout the old threads about this so please dont bite my head off and tell me to read old threads bc I have and still didnt find the answer... On the end of the cable that bolts to the drive bell housing how do you get the outer cable (sheath) off the back of the bell housing? I know it has a flange nut on the outside and I have that off but it has a threaded piece through the housing on the inside and a nut on the back which is a pia to get a 5/8 wrench on. Does it unscrew out of the housing or just push out and mine is really corroded?

Just push / punch it through once the nut is removed.

Awesome, thats what I needed to hear. Thanks a bunch

Yup, if it's stuck it's corrosion.

Does this look normal? The nut has obviously come off but it seems there is an inner cable thats still hung up in the bell housing. Keep beating it out or what?

Looks pretty close to being all the way out keep going

Make sure that if you are reusing it that you haven't damaged the knob on the end of the cable from beating on it.
