baja 272 drive heights????

i was thinking of going with a Imco SC on my 272, would there be an advantage to going to a 1 or 2 inch short lower?

How fast do you run, it did NOTHING for my 2000 272 , My prop center line is at 7.5" and I am running 1000 plus hp/ft lbs of tq. My boat lost top end, tried to swap ends and couldn't hold plane or take trim with -2 shortie, I tried a 1" spacer before giving up, still sucked, I am sticking with stock drive height now, Smitty

Never go with the 1 inch. You can always space down. From what I understand, the XR will most likely slow you down, if your not running big power and high speed. Also, some say the IMCO SC lower is much better for the v-hull than the XR shorty. Like Smitty said, what are you running and what is your exact setup?

Im nothing spectacular yet. i was hoping to see smitty respond to this post cause if anyones played with a 272 its him.
I just have a 450hp 454 running 64 on gps with a 23 mirage @5000 rpm. Imco single ram steering, HP transom assembly. I Live on a small lake about 1.5 x 12miles so its never ran hard for real long
My drive is cracked and insurance is gonna be buying most of my drive so im debating on what drive i should buy.
And planning on 650hp in the near future

for 650 hp you could easily get a stock xr or even a x to live with a 4 blade labbed, it will slow your boat down slightly for now, I wouldn't worry about changing drive heights for now, with a shorty you will need other mods like 5 blade props and once you drop the slip with one you will probably break drive stuff even at 650 hp, Smitty

Depends on what it was ran behind and how many hours it REALLY has, 30 hours behind 1200 hp could mean its been blown up 4 or 5 times and patched back together, it could however be like brand new. As far as the quality, a mixture of xr parts with a few shafts that are better as far as I know, Max worx does the most mods but they are 10,000$ plus new also, Smitty
