Types of #6 drives

What different models are there in the #6 drive type? At loto over the weekend, I looked at a couple of boats that were for sale and the drives all looked different even thought they were all #6's..

One was listed as a #6A?

What are the differences between them and are there any that need to be outright avoided when looking at a used boat?
Thanks!

Someone will jump in here if this is wrong or incomplete, but I think you have:

Early Wet-sump VI with old skeg
Dry sump VI with old skeg
Dry sump VI with swept skeg
NXT-VI SSM
SSMVII derivitive (diesels)

I don't think you can go wrong with any VI unless there has been neglect or abuse.

The VII had a longer x-dim I think. Not many around.

There is always the chance that the lowers have been blueprinted and therefore changed shape.
