B/W 72C Transmission Help
Getting the race boat all ready to go and for the first time today I had the front motor running. Went to put the B/W 1 to 1, 72C Velvet Drive in gear and nothing. I mean nothing. No grinding, no noise and most of all, no movement. I have no clue when it comes to boat transmissions or any transmissions for that matter. After some web searches I cant find anyone having a similar situation. I read if the clutches are bad it would lock in forward or make noise or something but again nothing. I even spun the driveshaft a few time and still nothing.
Is there any trouble shooting I can do? How hard are they to rebuild? I’ve done a 1000 motors but normally transmissions either work or get replaced in my past. What’s a rebuild cost? Anyone know anyone in Maryland? Thanks |
your best bet is driveguy here on OSO he is in NC !
and just awsome and very inexpensive ! it sounds like the pump is mounted wrong but depends on how llong and at which RPM u tried over and over...the clutchplates are probably damaged now ! i say to rebuild a BW 72 C its about 500-700 bucks depending on what u need..shiping back and fort from and to NC is around 100 with freightquote.com ! Hope this helps |
Sounds like a loss of pressure, could be anywhere from the inputshaft, pump gears, cooler,or valvebody. If the clutchpack or band were smoked you would smell burnt fluid. If it does nothing, no noise, sounds like complete pressure loss. You might ask Pickljim on here he seems to know whats what with different models, Randy
