Couple TRS questions...

1. Drive showers, yes or no and if yes what kind and where to buy.

2. Tie bars, should the connections stay centered or is ok for one side to lean forward and the other backwards.

Griff 10-02-2011 10:22 PM

No drive showers needed and I don't think anyone even makes them for TRS.

my drives are off, but i think i noticed my tie bar having a lean on each drive when removing. Are you talking about how it mounts to the ball?

s022mag 10-03-2011 05:44 PM

No. How it mounts to the drive. One leans all the forward and the other leans all the way back.

Griff 10-03-2011 06:31 PM

The mounts should be at the same angle like in the pic of these TRS drives http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o41962-en.html

you should be able to move the tie bar mounts forward and backward. If you cant, something is wrong. I don't know exactly why they made it that way. My guess is so it doesnt bind or put unnecessary pressure on the drives when one is up and one is down.

I can't budge them at all it would take a rubber mallet probably. I'll try and get a photo tonight and post it.

OK yes mine were mounted like the pic Griff posted. It took a lot of work w/ the mallet to get them off.

Well I just figured out that one drive is higher then the other one and the reason why is cause my individual trim switches quit working and the only way I can raise and lower the drives are with the one trailer switch so I can assume that over time on drive probably raises and lowers faster then the other which puts the drives off then screws with the tie bar.

Pier 53 out of cedar point marine fixed my switches but that only lasted about a day. Now I have to find out what they fixed and fixed it again.
