Arneson Drives

I'm a big fan of these drives, but can someone explain the situation with the tabs as shown in this picture. I've never seen this before.

btw, The boat's for sale here on oso for only 22k, a pair of Arnesons costs way more. A good "parts" boat?..

I have seen the boat and it is in very good shape and all fresh water. The boat has a big flat pad built into the bottom from the factory for shallow water running (I assume?) It is also a wide beam boat .The tabs probably are designed this way for helping steering with that pad, (it's big) IMO. All of the drive components are in great shape. I thought about buying the boat also for those drives and the other hardware that's in it and mounting it on a powerplay 33 with staggered motors.

Aren't those and old-school rocker plate?

tabs

Thats the best of both ideas, tabs mounted flat and level or tabs mounted matching the bottom of the boat..Weird but probably works

I will name it "UNITAB"

Im guessing the lower tabs are for stabalization when the boat is at speed running up on its pad. Im not sure why you would to that when you can just lower your regular tabs.

Or an attempt to have the lower tabs hook the water and create bow lift.
