Bravo Raw Water Pump Options
I an engineering the raw water pump arrangement for my Alpha to Bravo upgrade.I am running a pair of stout small blocks and am having trouble finding the right set up ...seems to be a lot of big block ideas however.
I am considering pulling water through the drives using a crank driven pump similar to this one; http://www.michiganmotorz.com/images...IG_250_178.jpg Is there any reason that I don't know of that this will not work? I have used this pump on 454's/502's and 3208 Cat's in inboard boats in the past with good results. I was however pulling through sea cocks and strainers. If I can use this pump set up it sure will simplify things.:evilb: All thoughts and suggestions welcomed. |
OK...I spoke to the guys at Doller Marine about this today and was told that I am "Spot On" with this idea and should have no trouble with it at all. They made the point to say I need to make sure I connect the discharge correctly to the circulating pump and recommended a combination side and low water intake lower unit....they thought they came out in 2005. Everyone is steering me away from the low water pickup.
This simplifies my cooling issue greatly.:evilb: |
Could run them to thru hull pick ups. Seen them pumps on small block volvos.

looks like a standard omc pump, thats how they did it for years.

I know old thread just a question, could you use this same pump on a 454 and pull it thru and alpha drive, just some thoughts I`m having.

Thanks Fixx boat runs fine now I just like the thought of having a better pump than what the alpha has.
