Definitely makes you question Merc's business practices. They had a good supplier, who made good gears. Then they obviously changed something(supplier, materials??), and we end up with a crappy part at double the price...Bastards..

I'd venture that 385's might even do a number to them, if you get one of the bad sets. I used Amsoil in mine (XR's) and still had issues. Might want to check with John P @ the Bravo Shop, he's got a line of oil thats pretty good. |
Speaking of XR gears. IMCO sells driven gears individually, and Merc doesnt. Does anybody know if they are just Merc gears, or if they have their own supplier??
They are listed under their SC line, I hope they are XR gears, because I need just one, and $700 sounds better then $1700.. LE |
