Outdrive help....bravo??
Can someone help out a newbie? Only thing I can find on my Outdrives is 5626213150R, I'm trying to figure out what they are so I can get some props for them and other little parts. I'm assuming the R is for right since there is two Merc Outdrives a right and a left. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If they are bravo's there is no right or left.

I'm not sure exactly what they are, that's why I was asking the boat gods that reside here..came off a 1980 Excalibur with 330's.

I'd guess that they're TRS's |
I'd do some digging on www.mercruiserparts.com and see if you can figure it out via the serial numbers under the parts breakdowns. I'd start with TRS as well.
|
Thank y'all for the help!! Did some digging but with no good results....I'll try to get some other numbers off it or throw some pictures up of it!
Thanks again |
Does the top cap have a raised rib with a hole thru it looks like a lift point? If so it's a trs. Does your boat have transmissions? If so, TRS.

Post a picture or link to a pic

Sorry guys in out on an oil rig, but I'll try to get someone to get me some pictures for y'all or I'll get a couple as soon as I get home! Again thank y'all for all the help!!

they are probably orig TRS. if transom was redone and converted to Bravo, the guy woulda been sure to play that up. the fact he said nothing about the drives implies he didn't spend any extra time-trouble on them.

http://m474.photobucket.com/albums/r...t=IMG_5301.jpg here's the photo's i promised...if they are TRS is anything wrong with that? Should i move up to something else? and if i stay with TRS's what props do i need to be looking for? |
I can't open the pics for some reason.

holy crap i got them in it....awesome!!
|
yes they are TRS's. tough, heavy, considered by some obsolete. by others preferrable to most stock drives made since. gears are still avail. cases getting scarce. they are all that fit your boat without major transom work and moving engines back. or major money for Konrads. so you really have not much choice. converting will cost more than you probably got the boat for.
|
What dk said, good strong drive. Yes they are getting really hard to find parts for but only if their broken. If I remember they use a 19 spline prop? What transmissions are they behind? If their any kind of BW then they should hold up good for you up to 600hp or more depending how hard you drive them. Some had the older MeercII trans which where weak and next to impossible to find replacements. Use em till they break. Konrads are the easiest replacements but not cheap.
|
Truely thank y'all for the help and input!! Not sure what transmissions they are behind, but the motors are 330's and being that this is my first boat I was just putting it back together to be a local lake cruiser no blazing speeds will be needed, just something to take out with my little boy. They both turn by hand and sound real smooth, the engines and trannies will be gone thru this weekend so I'll keep you posted on the findings and outcome.
Thanks again Matt |
go on ebay or just google merctrans and velvet drive. you will get many pics. trannys are very easy to tell apart. what, motors are out of boat?
|
Yeah never thought about eBay, the motors are 454's - 330's
