ssm5's on boxes trim hoses

just put a set of boxes and 5 gimbles on a fountain. anyone ever do this? the problem i am running into is where to route the trim hoses. the plate mount hole is on the gimble but i dont see anywhere to send them through the box into the boat. or do i route the hoses external and use thru hull fittings into the transom or am i missing a pass through in the box somewhere. i didnt look reallly hard in the box so i figured id ask quick

thanks

If I remember correctly, when I put box's and #5's on my Cigarette, the trim hoses needed to be about a foot or so longer, because of the length of the box and they were routed thru the transom hole and went thru the box, below the bearing carrier and out thru the hole in the back of the box, that the gimble centers on, and down to the "T" where the trim hoses "T" to. Call me and I would be happy to explain it further to you.

I also remember that they were really difficult, if not impossible, to "thread" the trim lines from the pump thru the box and then run them thru the small trim hole in the bottom of the gimble when it was installed on the box. I would recommend that you install the lines thru the box and down and thru the gimble "T" hole before you completely install the box on the boat. You could install the trim lines on the gimble, thread them thru the box and connect them to the trim pump last. That should solve your problem.

Gary, I remember fishing mine down from in the boat, because I didn't take the lines out. I remember it being tricky, but I think I ran a wire up from the bottom and taped the hose ends to it to help guide it back through.

the boxes are already on the boat... i think im going to try fishing the trim hoses from the boat down through the box and out the bottom of the gimble to attach them then pull them back into the boat and attach the t mount to the gimble. thats tonights project after work today.. wish me luck and thanks guys for the insight!!

Tulio, it can be done that way, but it is really tricky with gimbles and box's installed. Trying to fish them around the bearing carrier in the box will be the hardest part. You have to go under it, then thru the transom and then there is a right angle to get down thru the gimble opening for the trim hoses. It can be done but it will be a bi--h.
Good luck.
